Life and death...

There have been a lot of deaths here and other places these last couple of months. It's very sad.
At Mass today the Priest talked about Lazarus and Talitha, resurrection miracles that Jesus performed when He lived as a man on this earth. He was very earnest in reminding us that the end of our life on this earth is NOT the end of our life. He urged us to remember that one day Jesus will come again and all of us will be raised from the dead, body and soul reunited, to live with our Heavenly Father for eternity.
I thought to myself, "that's right"! I hadn't really thought about that day for a long time. Oh sure, I've thought about dying, others dying, etc. I've prayed for dearly departed souls and for their families. But the Priest is right, our life doesn't end when we die. We all get so caught up in our lives and the moment we are in right now that we forget the reason Christ came to earth and why He died. We must remember that someday Jesus will return to raise us from the dead and we have to be ready, we have to keep oil in the lamp. I'm not a scholar so I can't tell you how (I don't know if anyone can explain) but that is what I believe.
That is a comfort to me and I hope to those of you reading this who believe in similar ways. It's the reason our Church wants us to suffer a teensy, tiny, little bit during Lent; to help us think about our life, our death and our resurrection. God bless you all!

Putting on the Ritz... Posted by Hello

Random thoughts...

As some of you know and the rest will someday find out, as a young parent you tend to be friends with other young parents. It's a big help as you go through the trials of children. And then when they grow up and start leaving home, you have a shoulder to cry on. The picture above is my youngest daughter with a McCarthy (and I'm sure that a few of you know the McCarthy's). They are both sophomores in HS, she was homecoming attendant this year and he was her escort.
Mrs. McCarthy and I had our children around the same time and they all were and still are good friends.
It's the luck of the Irish to be blessed with good friends!

Groundhog Day

Posted by Hello
These crazy Franciscan University kids (my daughter is in front on the right with a white beanie and a blankie) drove very early on Feb. 2 to Puxatawney, PA to see if Phil the groundhog saw his shadow. He did and that's bad. But the worst thing is that Phil was right, winter is still with us. Knowing that I would want to know as soon as possible, they called me at 5:30 am (MST) to tell me about it. Ugh! Anybody know any good recipes for Groundhog? Just kidding, don't tell PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) on me.

I think....

you should all be jealous! Alice Cooper not only gave a bunch of money to this place on the Navajo reservation, but also played basketball and did a concert. Of course, stupid me *slap my head*, I didn't realize it was last night, so I missed it. Darn! Go here to read all about it.
