March For Life, 2009

Just finished watching the March and it was awesome.  One prediction was close to 200,000 people participated, people from babies up to the elderly in wheelchairs. Of course you could only view it on EWTN as the mainstream media WON'T cover it (although I think Fox covered some of it). In case you missed the original it will be rebroadcast on EWTN tonight and also this coming Saturday before they broadcast the Walk For Life West Coast.

Christendom led the March and I got a glimpse of banners from Notre Dame, Steubenville, University of Kansas and hundreds of other colleges, high schools, religious orders and family groups.

Kelly saw Bishop Conley from Denver on the stage at the rally along with many other Bishops. This is Kelly's 2nd year at ND and her 2nd March. Although classes weren't cancelled like at several universities, the students were not marked off for missing class. Their bus left on the 20th and other buses left yesterday afternoon. Last night they attended the Solemn Vigil Mass for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Several signs were signs of the time such as "Babies are not an embarrassment" (referring to President Obama's comments during his campaign). Also, "All babies want to be born" from Juno.  My favorite because Dr. Seuss and I share the same birthday is

"A person's a person no matter how small".

Also, the following ad (see the ad here) was aired not only on EWTN today but also on Black Entertainment Television in Chicago on the day of President Obama's inauguration.

The 30-second spot, produced by CatholicVote.org, begins with ultrasound image of an unborn baby."This child's future is a broken home," the overlying text states, with music playing in the background. "He will be abandoned by his father. His single mother will struggle to raise him." "Despite the hardships he will endure," the text continues, as the music gets louder and is mixed with sounds of a cheering crowd, "this child ... will become ... the first African American president." Then showing a picture of Barack Obama, the text says: "Life: Imagine the potential."

No pictures from this years march yet but I have one from last year to share. More later!
