Life and death...

There have been a lot of deaths here and other places these last couple of months. It's very sad.
At Mass today the Priest talked about Lazarus and Talitha, resurrection miracles that Jesus performed when He lived as a man on this earth. He was very earnest in reminding us that the end of our life on this earth is NOT the end of our life. He urged us to remember that one day Jesus will come again and all of us will be raised from the dead, body and soul reunited, to live with our Heavenly Father for eternity.
I thought to myself, "that's right"! I hadn't really thought about that day for a long time. Oh sure, I've thought about dying, others dying, etc. I've prayed for dearly departed souls and for their families. But the Priest is right, our life doesn't end when we die. We all get so caught up in our lives and the moment we are in right now that we forget the reason Christ came to earth and why He died. We must remember that someday Jesus will return to raise us from the dead and we have to be ready, we have to keep oil in the lamp. I'm not a scholar so I can't tell you how (I don't know if anyone can explain) but that is what I believe.
That is a comfort to me and I hope to those of you reading this who believe in similar ways. It's the reason our Church wants us to suffer a teensy, tiny, little bit during Lent; to help us think about our life, our death and our resurrection. God bless you all!

I haven't been traveling around the blogosphere much over the last month or so, but I am glad to see that you are still posting! Also, I am glad that your homily was better than mine this past Sunday.

My homily: The story of Lazurus was told because Jesus wants us all to know that it is ok to just be ourselves.

Hmmm...
