Help, I need somebody...

to analyze and explain this to me in simple words. I understand a little of it but I think one of the many philosophers running around these blogs would understand it better and put it in words that the simple minded (like me) can understand. It's from Newsweek called "The Pope and the Surgeon" George F. Will.

San Diego...

was a beautiful place to visit. While much of our time was taken up with the Nomads College Showcase Soccer tournament, we did manage to see some of the sites. Gorgeous weather the 4 days we were there. Da Goddess and I were going to try to meet up, but she's still in a lot of pain from a back injury so we were unable to get together. Please keep her in your prayers.

Seal Beach was really fun for the NM desert dwellers. My daughter and I climbed out onto the edge of a rock to visit this friendly seal (1st pic). He must have enjoyed it because there was a steady stream of visitors. We got about 5 ft. from him, but no further. He would make a little growling noise and would stop when you took a step back. We then walked to the main part where there were many seals and about 20 pups (2nd pic). These guys were in a protected area but didn't seemed bothered by the many visitors taking pictures. They basked in the sun and occasionally a few would take a dip in the ocean.

San Diego and La Jolla were very friendly cities and we ate at several nice restaurants. Easter mass we went to Mary, Star of the Sea and were greeted warmly by the parishoners. After Mass and one last soccer match we went to Alpine for Easter dinner with good friends. Wonderful couple, lots of nice children and about 300 easter eggs. Two of the little guys, about 10 I think, decided to hike up to a waterful. Since they couldn't go without an adult, I volunteered and it was great. We crossed the falls and hiked a little further up until you could see 360 degrees around you. This is an area that was just barely spared by fires last year.

It was a very enjoyable trip, esp. riding in the back seat with my daughter watching movies on the DVD while the Hubby drove and listened to a book on tape. I watched more movies on the trip there and back than I've watched in 2 years.

The soccer tournament was tough. The girls played 3 of the top ranked CA teams and although they lost they played well and as a team. And they felt good about the way they played.
We still have 2 months of soccer left and it requires a lot of driving on my part, but it's something Kelly really wants to do, so we are trying to support her in it.

Anyway we're back and my daughter, Liz, who will graduate this year and plans to go to the Franciscan University in Steubenville went there to visit her brother and sister and she too returned safely. School started on Monday, but in memory of the Holy Father all Catholic Schools in NM are closed on Friday. Even with the changes the Church now faces with Pope John Paul's death, life goes on. I hope all of you had an enjoyable Easter break. To all of my college friends - you are probably excited because you can see an end to this school year, I know my kids are ready for the summer break. So God bless you all and give you strength and encouragement to finish this school year with a bang. Not necessarily the kind of bangs E.C. and gang had going on the rooftops though. More later!

Have you seen ...

Jedno's new photo site? It's great and her first pictures are wonderful. They give me hope that the Church is still alive and doing well as opposed to the slanted news and polls that tell me that as an American Catholic I want married priest, women priests and birth control, etc.
